Join us in preparing for a new year with prayer and fasting. We want to see God do great things in our community this year. We are praying for church growth, both spiritually and in numbers. We are praying that God will bless marriages, relationships, restore families, bring healing, and we want you to be a part of that with us. Starting on January 15th we will start a church wide fast.
Fasting is a spiritual discipline mentioned throughout the Bible. Ezra fasted to help with financial troubles. Elijah fasted for emotional strengthening. Jesus fasted for his ministry. Paul fasted for major life decisions. Fasting is all about sacrificing something that’s important to you for a period of time.  Here’s a good definition: “Abstaining from the natural to invoke the supernatural.”  Fasting is an important ancient spiritual discipline that’s all about inviting God into our life.

Here’s an example of fasting from the Old Testament, in Daniel 10:2-3: “At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.” And then in verse 12, God responded to Daniel’s fast: “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.” Daniel fasted from certain foods and drink and lotions—for 21 days. And because Daniel humbled himself before God by sacrificing things that were important to him, God responded to his fast. Be creative and sacrifice something that’s important to you, like Daniel, and see how God honors your fast.

You can choose which type of fast you would like to participate in. You can choose to fast from food, or certain types of food.
